The shop boasts New (40,000+), Second-Hand (50,000+), Rare and Antiquarian (5,000+) books, Music, Publishing and even a Café! A must for anyone visiting the area. Black Rocks Country ParkBlack Rocks Country Park, Cromford is an outcrop of sculpted gritstone rock which offers a spectacular situation above the Derwent Valley at Cromford.
Ecclesbourne Valley RailwayEcclesbourne Valley Railway is a project to reopen the railway between Wirksworth and Duffield. This is staffed and run by volunteers, based at Wirksworth Station.
Gulliver's KingdomGulliver's Kingdom is a theme park for young families, in a situation overlooking Matlock Bath.
Places to eat in the villageWe are very fortunate to have a wonderful tea room and also 2 pubs (all within walking distance - remembering we are up a steep hill!) The Fountain Tea Rooms are based in the center of the village by the playground and it offers a wide range of food from breakfasts to soups and jacket potatoes to tea and cake! The Kings Head is a traditional British pub with great food and hospitality and is open every day.The Barley Mow is an award winning micropub (in January 2025 it was named the best pub in Derbyshire according to an article in The Telegraph) It is also home of the annual 'World Championship' Hen Races, which takes place on the first Saturday in August and has live music every Saturday.
Heights of AbrahamHeights of Abraham are a tourist centre with two show caves - Rutland Cavern and Great Masson Mine - plus a cable car and other attractions. It is situated high above Matlock Bath.
High Peak Junction and Cromford CanalHigh Peak Junction is the former junction of the High Peak Railway and the Midland Railway, just south of Cromford
High Peak TrailThe High Peak Trail takes the line of the former Cromford and High Peak Railway between Parsley Hey and Cromford within the Peak District.

Lead Mining Museum, Matlock BathThe Lead Mining Museum at Matlock Bath is owned by the Peak District Mines Historical Society and is in the Pavilion Building alongside the River Derwent. They also run the nearby Temple Mine where you can see what a lead mine was like.
Middleton TopMiddleton Top is the last surviving winding engine from the now defunct Cromford and High Peak Railway. It is located near Middleton by Wirksworth within the Peak District.
National Stone Centre, Middleton by WirksworthThe National Stone Centre is in Middleton and has geological displays, fossils, stone walling courses, panning for gems and other activities.
Robin Hood's StrideRobin Hood's Stride is a spectacular tor of gritstone rocks perched on a ridge between Harthill Moor and the Alport-Winster road in the Peak District.
Stanton MoorStanton Moor and the Nine Ladies stone circle is a scenic area with many bronze age relics and burial mounds overlooking Stanton in Peak and the Wye and Derwent valleys.
Steeple Grange Light RailwaySteeple Grange Light Railway lies just off the High Peak Trail, just below Middleton. It runs narrow gauge trains on lines used to serve the former quarries.
